MISSION~

To support the arts in Gulfport, Florida.

 OBJECTIVES~

To bring a wide range of the arts to Gulfport and to present
in varied types of venues to allow the public and artists to experience creativity as a part of daily life.  In this context we can act on any project that involves creativity.  Projects, classes, workshops, and speakers in the visual arts, performing arts, literature, collaborations and experimental works are all considered.  The aim is to act as a laboratory for artists as well as an educational organization for the public.

 ORGANIZATION~

City of Imagination is a non-profit all volunteer corporation.  We work with the city government to provide arts education and service to the public.

PROGRAMS~

In this time of decreased funding of the arts by government and private sources, City of Imagination has created a program that increases the possibilities for artists to have their work seen and for the public to directly experience a wealth of creativity.

One way in which this is accomplished is through "The City as Museum," an innovative program that uses government and private properties as venues for the exhibition of art as well as spaces for performances. This allows the public and artists to experience creativity as a part of daily life.

 ARTISTIC POLICY~

One of the focuses of City of Imagination is the art of our time.  As a laboratory for experimentation, City of Imagination encourages artists who are dedicated to exploring the human condition in a new and unique manner.

 FUNDING~

It is truly amazing what can be accomplished with very little money and a lot of imagination.  In partnership with the City of Gulfport, the City of Imagination has held a community dance and New Year's Eve celebration once a year as a fundraiser in the Gulfport Casino Ballroom. This year, we proposed that the community come together as volunteers for this event and a percentage of the proceeds be contributed to a Gulfport Public Art Fund. In 2011, City of Imagination launched a calendar fund raiser. The organization also receives generous donations of space and time from the community and the City of Gulfport.  All donations are welcome.
