Experimental artist and Tarpon Springs native Kim Dohrman, thrives on exploring a variety of techniques, media, and styles in her work.  Her current series incudes encaustic portraits on clayboard(TM) as well as encaustic monoprints on vellum and fabric.  Her body of work includes minimalistic oil monoprints on vellum, primitivistic wire sculptures, surrealistic pen and inks, fauvistic character portraits, and expressionistic mixed media pieces exploring a variety of media on canvas, glass, masonite, metal, and wood.  In addition, she has a series of computer-manipulated drawings, paintings and photographs merged with original and found poetry and music.

Dohrman graduated with a B.F.A. from the University of
Tampa in 1996, majoring in creative writing with minors in art and English.

"This creative thing, this life long compulsion that began with crayon and paper has grown into experimenting with everything I can get my hands on.  I love for the explorative process, and I am privileged to share my passion for the arts through teaching, which I began doing in 1992."

(Image 2)

These extraordinary sculptures are on long term loan to the City of Imagination
and located at the City of Gulfport Library at 28th Avenue South and Beach
Boulevard South during regular library hours.

Made of scrap steel on raw wooden bases, these remarkable works not
only offer a riff on recognized forms, they also navigate the natural world with
that of the built environment.

John Langley is one of the most recognized architects and artists in the
bay area.  In addition to exhibiting his own works in some of the
most impressive venues, he is also the founder and director of the
annual Gala Corina contemporary art show in Tampa.

John Di Sanza ~ Artist Statement
2009(see "Exhibitions~Events" page for details)

My visual artistic expression began as an emotional response to the destruction of September 11th on the city of my birth. A self-taught artist, I call my stream of consciousness art Lived Art.

My flexible, visual style was first created in pen and ink before springing forth onto canvas in vivid color. Lived Art reflects its own time but stays relevant as it moves into the future.

My influences include Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jackson Pollock, Pablo Picasso and the artists who display their work on the streets of New York City.

I have had solo exhibits at Snooty Judy’s Fine Art Gallery and the H’art Gallery in Dunedin, Florida; the Tarpon Springs Cultural Center and Sullivan Gallery in Tarpon Springs, Florida.

My work was included in the 14th All Florida Juried Exhibit at The Arts Center in St. Petersburg, Florida, the Clayton Galleries 10th Anniversary Contemporary Folk Expressions Show in Tampa, Florida and TESA President’s Summer Invitational Show at the Leepa Rattner Museum of Art in Tarpon Springs, Florida.

I have exhibited at the Artists Way Gallery and the Bansemer Gallery in Dunedin, Florida, and Main Street Gallery in Clayton, Georgia.  I am a member of the Gulf Coast Artist Alliance and the International Society of Acrylic Painters

In addition to my art, I am the author of a published collection of short stories titled Johnnie Saigon No Band Played.  I am currently working on my second collections of stories, titled Gargoyles and Neon Lights.
